Biography
Michael Bonfiglio is an Emmy-winning director, producer, writer, and camera operator known for his acclaimed documentaries and TV work.
His film "May It Last: A Portrait of the Avett Brothers" , co-directed with Judd Apatow, won the 24 Beats Per Second Audience Award at SXSW 2017 and aired on HBO. He also co-directed ESPN's "Doc & Darryl” and directed "You Don’t Know Bo", the highest-rated 30 for 30 documentary. Bonfiglio helmed Netflix’s "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction" with David Letterman, featuring President Obama’s first post-presidency interview, and directed "Jerry Before Seinfeld", earning a Primetime Emmy nomination.
He won a Primetime Emmy as co-executive producer of "The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling" and has directed socially impactful films like "From the Ashes" and "Paris to Pittsburgh" for Bloomberg Philanthropies and National Geographic. His extensive TV credits include "Oprah's Master Class", "9 Days and Nights of Ed Sheeran", "Visionaries: Inside the Creative Mind", "Iconoclasts", and "Summit on the Summit ” .
